Editorial overview

Design approach

Regional programs developed through consultation

MNK’s published project descriptions emphasize programming, interviews with users and coordination with public owners. Its larger school and healthcare work combines new additions with renovation of occupied campuses, making phasing, circulation and continuity of operations recurring design concerns.

Current professional evidence

Documented strength in education facilities

Learning by Design records Outstanding Project recognition for Eastwood High School in 2020 and for Burges and Montwood high schools in 2022. AIA El Paso lists the studio in its current firm directory, while Texas Architect documents MNK’s role on El Paso Children’s Hospital.

Data limitations

Ownership changed; operating data remain limited

MNK joined Stonewall Studios before the 2026 evidence cutoff. Public sources do not yet standardize how staff, contracts and services are divided between the local studio and the wider platform. Fees, current capacity and project budgets are not published consistently, and the available evidence does not support a numerical rank.

Practice information

Leadership and ownership

The May 2026 Stonewall Studios announcement identifies Renée Jiménez, AIA, as MNK’s studio leader and principal architect. MNK’s own people page still uses the earlier title of president and CEO. Because the transaction changed the ownership structure, this profile uses the newer Stonewall title and does not infer a broader current executive roster.

Licensure and registration

Registration review in progress. The catalog has not yet completed an independent entity-registration check with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. Registration confirms legal standing to practice and is not an editorial endorsement.
